Extended Education Conference 2023 in Bern, Switzerland, September 6-9, 2023

The Extended Education Conference 2023, themed “Between School and Recreation – Quality in Extended Education,” recently concluded at Bern University of Teacher Education. Attended by approximately 100 participants from around the world, the event successfully fostered global collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of extended education. The keynote speech delivered by Prof. Sandra Simpkins (University of California Irvine, the US) set the tone by exploring the diversity and quality features of extended education. The symposia and paper sessions provided a platform for insightful discussions on best practices, challenges, and research findings, contributing to the advancement of the field. One of the highlights was the site visits to all-day schools in Bern, offering participants a firsthand experience of local extended education models. The event catalyzed forging new partnerships and collaborations between researchers from diverse national and cultural contexts, promising a positive impact on the future of extended education.
