New Release in the WERA-Springer Book Series on Social and Emotional Learning for Future Readiness

We are thrilled to announce the publication of the latest volume in the WERA-Springer Book Series:
“Social and Emotional Learning as Foundation for Future Readiness: Translating Research to Practice” edited by Chong Myung Park, Lea Ferrari, Andreea-Diana Scoda, Nurten Karacan Ozdemir, Gloria Marsay, and V. Scott H. Solberg.

This volume offers a truly global exploration of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) by drawing on insights from a multi-national, cross-cultural study involving educator perspectives from 19 countries. Led by career development researchers, the study emphasizes SEL not only as a foundation for academic achievement but also as a set of essential, long-lasting human skills that are critical for success in the workplace.

Chapters feature research from three key regions — the Global South, Asia, and the Global North — and provide comparative analyses of how SEL is understood and applied across diverse cultural contexts. The book also presents actionable strategies for developing culturally responsive SEL programs and future-readiness initiatives, with region-specific guidance for educators and policymakers on implementing effective SEL and career development practices.

This volume is part of the WERA-Springer book series ‘Education Science, Evidence, and the Public Good’ edited by Mustafa Yunus Eryaman, Barbara Schneider, Felice Levine, and Ingrid Gogolin. This book series takes an analytic perspective on the theoretical underpinnings and practical examples of use of scientific evidence from education research to inform educational policy and practice in an international context. It examines a wide range of topics, including assessment and evaluation, educational administration and school governance, teaching and teacher education, education and workforce transitions, the structure of the curriculum, and policy.
