WERA Participates in ThaiCER 2026 and THERA Launch

WERA President Joe O’Hara and WERA Past President Mustafa Yunus Eryaman participated in the Thailand International Conference on Education Research (ThaiCER) 2026 and the official launch of the Thailand Education Research Association (THERA), held in Bangkok on 6–7 August 2026.

Held under the theme “Resilient Future: Building Adaptive, Equitable, and Sustainable Education,” ThaiCER 2026 brought together researchers, educators, policymakers, and other education stakeholders from Thailand and abroad to exchange knowledge and perspectives on strengthening education systems.

Professor O’Hara delivered a keynote address titled “Reconceptualising the Educational Ecosystem: Exploring the Dynamic Interplay of Systems and Individuals in Promoting Resilience, Retention and Reform Across the Educational Continuum.” He and Professor Eryaman also contributed to a public lecture at Kasetsart University on “Educational Research for a Changing World: Global Trends and the Role of WERA.”

A key highlight of the programme was the official launch of THERA. The Equitable Education Fund (EEF) Thailand, a WERA Institutional member, has worked with the Office of the Education Council (OEC) and partner organisations to establish THERA as a national platform for education research in Thailand. The association aims to connect multidisciplinary research networks and strengthen collaboration among researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.

Professors O’Hara and Eryaman also participated in the THERA Launch & High-Level Policy Dialogue, alongside Thai education leaders, contributing perspectives on global trends in education research, WERA’s role in supporting national research networks, and emerging issues including artificial intelligence in education.

WERA congratulates THERA on its official launch and looks forward to continued collaboration with EEF Thailand, THERA, and the wider Thai education research community.
